I Can Dance

Learning to dance is something we all experience once in our lives, whether or not we continue is a matter of culture, religion, or bravery. Dancing takes on many forms in our society. We dance at dance clubs, celebrations, ceremonies and yes, even church. Our church now has dancers and this Southern Baptist reared gal is slowly getting used to the idea. When we dance, we are usually happy and celebrating, so yes, dancing before the Lord seems fitting. Is the fact that you don't dance a "sacred cow" you are hanging on to? Maybe some people should rethink why they don't dance, whether at celebration or church.
dancing is something that oh, so moves my soul.. from deep within my very being... especially in church. i close my eyes and its as though Jesus and i are dancing as those two children you have so beautifully portrayed in your photo above. if anyone has never tried this.. forget the world around you, forget who "may" be watching you and just "embrace" His presence as you "dance" with Him. trust mi. it is a feeling that will move your soul like nothing else!
ReplyDeleteI grew up watching my mama and daddy put on some nice music on the stero and then see them embrace and dance together in the den. My sister and I never doubted they loved each other but this was a real treat to see how together they moved as one, looking and smiling at each other. When I learned from some of my friends that their church thought dancing was from the devil, it made my spirit sag; since I knew different. I have since watched with great curisoity, native dancers from almost every culture. Some dancing is almost an athlete feat, and some is graceful and beautiful. Yes, there is dirty dancing as well. However, just like music, I do believe there is an innate quality in all beings to want to move with the music, even if that music is coming only from their own heart.
