America the Beautiful

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

I pray that when my grandchildren become adults, their children will be able to experience the America that I know and love.

If a Woman Doesn't Keep Pace

If a Women Doesn't Keep Pace
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.

Look to the One Who Gives Answers

I had the opportunity to spend a few days with a friend while back East in April. We are both artists and photographers so it was a fun and inspirationtal time. This photo, which I took of my friend in a small chapel, is a favorite as it reminds me to look to Jesus in all situations. I frequently forget and then later remember when it is too late to get wisdom and answers from the one who knows all, Jesus.  Why is that, why do we struggle on our own only to remember later that we, God's children, have an open door to our Father? I remember years ago, I had lost something and it was a really important thing and I was frantic when my daughter, Alisa said "Mom, did you pray?" and I said, "no", kind of with a sheepish look.  So, I stopped and prayed and asked God to show me where this item was and do you know, I found it shortly after.

Ask and it shall be given to you, seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.  Matthew 7:7

I Can Dance

Learning to dance is something we all experience once in our lives, whether or not we continue is a matter of culture, religion, or bravery. Dancing takes on many forms in our society. We dance at dance clubs, celebrations, ceremonies and yes, even church. Our church now has dancers and this Southern Baptist reared gal is slowly getting used to the idea. When we dance, we are usually happy and celebrating, so yes, dancing before the Lord seems fitting. Is the fact that you don't dance a "sacred cow" you are hanging on to? Maybe some people should rethink why they don't dance, whether at celebration or church.

Water

I love water, it is one of those things in life that gives me pleasure.  Swimming, snorkeling, floating, boating, wading, anything that has to do with being on, by, under or in the water.  I even use to dream that I could breath under water.

When I was a child, my family lived
by the Boise River.  My brother and I would be at the river with our friends from morning till night, maybe that is where I began my love affair with water.  When we got older, we and our friends invented the idea of floating on tubes down the Boise River.  Now it is a big deal and has been commercialized.  Thousands of people float the river each summer.  I wonder if  Boise knows who those "River Rats" were that started the whole thing?

Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.  John 4: 13-14
